MELISSA SPONSORED ANA TO COME TO CANADA TO CONTINUE HER EDUCATION
Ana's Story
Ana Milka De la Rosa was born December 11, 1998 in Puerto Plata Dominican Republic.
“I was eight years old when I met Melissa, who was searching the neighbourhood looking for children who might be assisted by Dove Missions Youth Centre programs.” Over the next ten years Ana Milka frequented the youth centre and benefited from the many opportunities there. Seeing a lot of potential in her, Melissa decided to sponsor Ana Milka to come to Canada in order to continue her education. That process started in 2016. In September, 2022 Ana Milka was accepted into the Personal Support Worker program at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario Canada. She graduated in April, 2023 and is now working full-time at the Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf in Barrie.
“Melissa changed my life. Continuing my education and going to College was hard for me in the Dominican Republic. I now have a job I enjoy so that I can help myself and help my family.”
Ana Milka’s plan for the future is to apply for the Registered Nursing program. Her main interest is to continue working in the healthcare field and work with children. “When Melissa met me, she saw something in me I didn’t know myself. She knew I was going to do something great. I will always be grateful for Melissa and Builders For Change.”
